Structure and working principle of electric rock drill

Electric tools for drilling holes in rock masses. That is, the motor drives the drill pipe and the drill bit to rotate through the speed change mechanism, and pushes it manually or by other mechanical methods to drill holes in the soft rock. It is used for drilling blastholes in rock roadway excavation, as well as bolt holes, water exploration holes, gas drainage holes and coal seam water injection holes, etc. According to the propulsion method, it can be divided into two types: handheld and guide rail.

The hand-held rock drill is propelled by hand and consists of a motor, a reducer, a switch, etc. It is suitable for semi-coal rock or soft rock roadway whose uniaxial compressive strength is less than 40MPa, the diameter of blast hole is 35-42mm, and the hole depth is less than 2m. The voltage is generally 127V and the power is 1.5kW. Its structural principle is similar to that of a coal electric drill.

Guide rail type electric rock drill The main machine is installed on the guide rail, and the guide rail is fixed on the column during operation. There are three types of propulsion mechanisms: chain type, rack type and wire rope drum type. The working principle of the chain type and the rack type is basically the same. The advancing chain or rack is fixed on the guide rail. When advancing, the sprocket (gear) meshes with the chain (rack), and the rig rotates with the sprocket (gear). and advance or retreat. In the wire rope drum type, one end of the wire rope is fixed on the guide rail, and the other end is fixed on the drum of the drilling rig. When the drilling rig is working, the drum is wound around the wire rope to pull the drilling rig forward, and when it is retracted, it is manually pulled back.

The electric rock drill is composed of a motor, a gear box and a runway. The motor and the gear box are connected together to become the main engine, and work on the runway through the sprocket and chain.

The motor is a three-phase AC electric squirrel-cage self-fan air-cooled asynchronous motor.

The reducer has three output shafts, one drives the drill rod to rotate, and the other is two symmetrical worm shafts. The single-head worm gear system and the double-sided friction clutch make the main engine move forward slowly on the runway. The worm and worm gear system and the double-sided friction clutch make the main engine quickly retreat on the runway.
